HOUSEBREAKING TIPS
Matching Nylon Collar and Nylon Leash 3/8” by 4’to 6’

Safety first, always be present with your new puppy outdoors and keep them close to you.  I do not approve of those long retractable leads, tie outs or invisible fence because of the constant danger of our small guys being attacked by larger animals.  I personally prefer piddle pad training in the kitchen or garage or the use of an enclosed deck or porch.  As long as you’re a feeding a quality food and no table scraps.  Their stool should be solid (I call them tootsie rolls) and easily disposed of in a sanitary manner.  Do not expose them to the ever-present danger of other unsupervised animals out doors; you would not believe the devastation in the horror stories I hear.

Water Bottle and Stoneware Dog Dish

Especially for Maltese, the water bottle helps to prevent beard staining and water dribbles across the floor.  Of course the water needs to be refreshed daily, and occasional bleaching of the bottle helps with sanitation.  I like the stoneware dishes because the puppies cannot turn them into teething toys and they are not easily tipped over, they can be disinfected easily in the dishwasher.

Dental Toy and Dental Cleaning Kit

I prefer both of these for teething as well as to help with dental cleaning.  I find they become life long favorite toys when offered and used as toys during puppy hood. A Puppy Dental Cleaning kit only works if you use it and start it as a puppy.  Toy dogs are notorious for dental problems later in life.
